About Sound Healing

Quantum physics tells us that everything is a vibrating energy,
and just as a musical instrument falls out of tune,
we also can fall out of tune.

Re-tuning
Our bodies have a pulse, rhythm and vibratory signature of health and wellbeing.  Over time, life situations can cause imbalances in our energy fields.  Stress, negativity and trauma can prevent a healthy flow of energy.  An easy example is to notice how breath flows (or doesn’t) during stressful situations.  Often breath becomes shallow and fast, heart rate rises and perhaps we get a headache or tension in the body.  This is a physical manifestation of blocked energy.  Sometimes we suppress our emotions, stifle a good cry or don’t express our feelings truthfully.  This is an example of blocked emotional or mental energy.

This blocked energy becomes stored in our system and just as a beaver builds a dam in a river, we build our own dam, and free flowing energy, breath, blood, thought, etc., becomes slowed or fully blocked.  This occurrence first shows up in the energy field around the body, and later can manifest as illness in the physical body.

Sound healing therapy helps us shift from a lower vibrational frequency (negative energy, stress, anger, fear, dis-ease) to a higher one.  We are reminded of our perfect tuning at the cellular level, creating harmony that radiates through the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies.

Who Benefits from Sound Healing Therapy?
Sound healing is for everyone- from those in perfect health to those with serious conditions.

Sound Healing is complementary to mainstream medicine.

Sound Healing is simple preventative care.

About This Tradition
This tradition was brought to the US by master teacher Suren Shrestha, who grew up in Nepal and spent much of his life learning and experiencing the different healing traditions of his ancestors, shamans and healers. He established the Atma Buti School for Sound and Vibrational Healing in Boulder, CO.  Specific protocols are used to address different healing needs, while also offering balance and deep relaxation.
The hand-hammered singing bowls are from the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, fashioned in a tradition that has been passed down through the ages.  They are made of a special seven-metal alloy of gold, silver, iron, mercury, tin, copper, and lead.  Each metal represents one of the seven chakras and the seven heavenly bodies in our solar system.  The craftsmen who hand-hammer the bowls chant into them during the process to infuse the bowls with healing intention.

Protocols offered:
Deep Relaxation, Healing and Balance
Warm Water Therapy
Stress and Depression Therapy
Therapy to Ease Anger, Aggression, Arthiritis and High Blood Pressure
Shoulder, Neck and Upper Back Tension
Insomnia
Ear Therapy
Chakra Clearing

In addition to the above-listed protocols, clients with the following conditions also report positive benefits:
• Lyme Disease
• Kidney Stone
• Hiatal Hernia
• Fatigue
• Parkinson’s

More details about sound healing therapy will be posted in the Polly Blog soon.

Group and Individual Sessions

Individual Sessions

What to expect in a session

Clients lie on a soft cushion or massage table surrounded by the bowls, choose an intention, and begin to relax.  Vibration surrounds the client as the bowls are softly rung in specific protocols determined by the client’s needs.  Each client experiences relaxation and re-balancing while receiving soothing vibrational energy from the bowls.  Additional techniques, such as warm water therapy, bowl placement on the body, soft chanting, Reiki and use of the BioMat may also be incorporated into the session. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Sessions are approximately one hour in length.

Group Sessions

What to expect in a session

Group sessions are typically one hour in length.

Participants lie on the cushioned floor in a comfortable, supported Savasana (yoga mat, blankets, bolsters).  Chairs are provided for those who prefer to be seated.  Himalayan Protocols for Deep Relaxation, Healing and Balance are offered, and often bowl placement on the body.  Participants are asked to focus on their personal intention for the session.  Participants are sometimes asked to bring their own mat, blanket and pillow, depending on the location.

For larger groups, two sound healers are present.
